ABB Robotics introduces OmniCore EyeMotion to enable vision-driven autonomous operations

ABB Robotics has launched OmniCore™ EyeMotion, enabling any OmniCore™-powered robot to recognise its surroundings using third-party cameras or sensors and adapt in real time, even in complex applications.

The solution allows robots to both detect and interpret their environment for a wide range of 2D and 3D vision-based tasks, removing the need for specialised camera hardware.

Designed for users of all skill levels, the system features a simple web-based interface with drag-and-drop functionality for integrating sensors and cameras. It supports fast image capture and recognition and is fully integrated with ABB’s software suite, including RobotStudio, enabling quicker setup and deployment. The system can reduce commissioning time by up to 90% compared to custom-built solutions.

The OmniCore Intelligent Imaging System is expected to improve tasks such as item sorting and quality inspection across industries including automotive, electronics manufacturing, logistics, packaging, and food and beverage.

For more advanced use cases, OmniCore EyeMotion can be combined with ABB’s Automatic Path Planning Online technology, allowing robots to plan and execute optimal, collision-free paths in real time without human intervention. This can increase autonomy and reduce cycle times by up to 50%.

The development supports ABB Robotics’ progress towards Autonomous Versatile Robotics (AVR™), where next-generation robots will independently handle complex tasks by combining vision, precision, speed, and mobility with generative AI.

OmniCore EyeMotion will be presented at the China International Industry Fair 2025, scheduled to take place in Shanghai from 23 to 27 September 2025.
